Halide lamps are required as the best source of artificial sunlight which most accurately and efficiently replicates natural sunlight conditions giving the natural ingredients for a healthy tank.
Halides are a compact source of light which emit the high output light from a single focus point just like the natural sun itself, thus successfully reproduces the natural ripple effect of sunlight.
This rippling effect isn’t possible with t5 lighting as the light is coming from a more spread source.

A higher abundance of blue in the spectrum highlights vibrant green and blue colours in the corals.
Under our 30000k halide you will get the appearance of a tropical reef with a clinical blue colour and feel.
Not only is it necessary for growth, also make a more enjoyable viewing pleasure.
The ideal depth of tank that you should use 150w halides with is a maximum of 2ft. If your tank is any deeper than this you should consider increasing to 250w for deeper penetration.

- I bought a 150w 30k halide bulb. This bulb gives a refreshing crisp blue/white spectrum compared to my arcadia14k which now seems somewhat dull and yellow as i have the 2 running alonside each other for 2 weeks to make a comparison. I would say this bulb gives overall better results even after 2 weeks. A must for all you reefers. top marks (Posted on 09/12/2011)
